Dan and his team just completed a 6-month remodel on the inside of our house. They are true professionals and a joy to work with.
We had a lot of custom work done including a new fireplace, new staircase, wainscoting and window casings. It all looks stunning. Their attention to detail is unmatched. They crafted every area with such care and precision. Everyone also treated our home like it was their own. They swept and made sure their tools and work areas looked neat. It’s a small detail, but an important one.
As our general contractor, Dan was open with us about the projects we were asking for. If he didn’t agree with something we wanted to do, he voiced it. If there was a better way, or sometimes more cost effective way to do something that didn’t reduce the quality of the job, he would suggest it. He did his best to balance what we wanted with what made the most sense for the project. Dan was also a great barrier between us and the subcontractors. Issues are bound to arise when you’re dealing with subcontractors working on very specific jobs throughout the house. Dan is like Yoda when it comes to working with subcontractors. He has a very special and dialed-in way of working with them and us to make sure everyone felt taken care of.
Dan and his team are also incredibly kind. All were very personable and a joy to be around. They made this processes very special for us. They also did jobs outside of our scope to sweeten the experience. For example, Dan built a panel of wainscoting up the stairs as a gift to us and it really makes our entry way and living room pop. They're also going to come back and hang pictures and paintings for us when we're ready. Just a really stand-up team.

From the first day we first met Dan Carr to the present, he listened. When our kitchen was in the planning stage, we had lots of ideas. We knew what appliances we wanted, a rough idea of what the workspace area we would like. We also wanted a room that we would always want to be in, that would be the crossroads of our home. We had some pretty grandiose ideas of what we wanted our kitchen to look like. What we wanted required attention to detail and a knowledgeable designer/contractor.
There were several focal points we were interested in such as stained glass, a large clock, and some mosaics. We also wanted to be able to display family heirloom dishes and glassware. We certainly knew what we wanted but had no idea how to get there. Over several months of designing Dan presented us with his ideas and we were stunned by how well they fit our vision.
When work began, Dan and his team first put in place protective screens that minimized how the rest of our home was affected by the ongoing demo and construction. The work ethic, dependability, courtesy, and care for our home shown by his associates as well as his choice of subcontractors were exemplary.
Over the years, Dan has put together a team of sub-contractors that meet his standards. The guys who did the tile work, electrical, plumbing, and cabinetry did it well and when needed. There were no significant delays due to waiting for a tradesman to show up. They all cleaned up their messes and made sure the job was done right before they left at the end of each day.
Dan was also flexible. When the demolition phase of the project was concluded, different design opportunities presented themselves. He consulted with us numerous times, gave us the new possibilities, and changed the design to accommodate our wishes.
During the construction phase Dan continued to listen. We were choosing wall paint color, tile, cabinet design and color, flooring, backsplash, countertops, light fixtures, hardware, etc. If we were stuck on something we would let him know and he would help us in the right direction.
The attention to detail became even more apparent during installation of the millwork. Miter cuts were tight to each other, to the cabinets and walls. The fit and finish of all parts of the project showed craftsmanship rarely seen anymore. As part of the process, foam board protected every part of the kitchen that was completed, protecting it from damage while other areas were being completed.
Dan Carr & Associates did anything they could to minimize the troubles caused by the center of our home being gutted and rebuilt. The fourteen months that our project took to complete were obviously an inconvenience, but we can say without hesitation, that we would do it all again knowing what we were in for, thanks to Dan and his crew!
Overall, we can’t say enough about the positive experience we had with Dan and his team. They were fun to be around and we can sincerely say that we would call them friends.

Beautiful! Gorgeous! It looks like a magazine cover! This should be on TV! These are some of the comments by visitors to our home after the recent remodel. All of this is the result of the excellent design by Dan Carr & Associates and his very talented crew. We were so impressed by the way Dan could listen to our ideas, improve upon them, put them in a beautifully drawn plan and then make them a reality. We love the final result!
Mark, Philippe and Chris were the men who quickly became friends as they spent months working in our home. If we had a question or a problem, they quickly found a solution. It was so impressive to observe the skills and knowledge they displayed as they worked through the many challenges of upgrading an older home with its many structural flaws. They were polite, pleasant and respectful of our home. They cleaned the area at the end of every workday. Dan also had a cleaning crew come in at the end of construction to thoroughly clean the entire space!
As Dan supervised the remodel, we became aware of his attention to detail. The tiniest flaw had to be corrected until perfect. When asked, he gave us advice and suggested ideas for the rest of the house that we were redecorating. His wonderful wife, Jeanine, was our go-to person at the office to solve issues with materials ordered and to help choose fixtures to complement our kitchen.
Dan and Jeanine have proven to be living the values they profess. They helped us in so many ways, even to the point of praying for us during an unexpected and prolonged illness in our family. Dan's kitchens are transcendent. What might Mr. Thoreau have opined? Mr. Emerson? Walt Whitman? I am certain it would require the combined eloquence of these esteemed philosophers and poets to adequately express the joy and amazement we have experienced in our new Dan Carr kitchen.
Dan Carr and Associates is so much more than a mere contractor. As an experienced do-it-yourselfer and period furniture maker, I sought a partner to help my wife and I bring our remodeling vision to reality. We found that partner in Dan Carr and his team -- Maestros of design, materials and methods.
Our project included exterior drainage, floor plan modifications, window replacement, as well as complete millwork and door replacement and, of course, a new Dan Carr kitchen. Some work I wanted to do myself and Dan gave me free rein to do that, seamlessly working daily along side his craftsmen.
Dan and his team were industrious and efficient, executing the project with excellence and attention to detail. They were fun to work with. They shared ideas freely with me and they were there to help me when I needed their help. Dan's team orchestrated the project with close communication and respect for us and our home. They kept their work area orderly and safe and cleaned up after each day of activity.
Attention to design details and a commitment to craftsmanship are hallmarks of excellence that Dan manifests in his projects. He clearly revels in the process of interacting with clients, probing and chatting easily as he gets inside your head to find what you want and then floating his ideas along with yours to create not only an aesthetically pleasing product, but value for his client.

Dan also designed our front entry doors which are a wonderful focal point. Dan's creativity and experience have impacted the overall welcoming feel of our newly completed home. Thank you, Dan!

We were so happy with Dan Carr as our kitchen designer because of his eye for detail, both from an aesthetic point of view and also for practical or functional design. We are thrilled with our final product that resulted from Dan’s attention to detail. We had actually worked with a total of five kitchen designers before finding Dan (as we met with several for estimates and worked for quite a while with one that ended up closing their local shop). No one had noticed that the kitchen island was too close to the refrigerator, but Dan noticed right away that I wouldn’t be able to stand between the refrigerator and island when the door was open. I was shocked that no one else noticed this on the plans and was so happy that he caught it. He took our plans and artistically sketched out a few detail changes and all were big improvements. He then took us to meet the cabinet makers and tour their facility and did the same thing for our granite fabricators. It was evident that he wanted us to be comfortable with the workmanship of these men and I felt like we would get quality cabinets and countertops from them, especially since they knew he was our designer and would require that expertise. We weren’t disappointed! We always found Dan and Jeanine to be very personable and easy to talk to. They always communicated with us and kept us abreast of the progress of the granite fabrication and of the cabinets as they were being built. Then Dan had wonderful installers for the cabinets. From start to finish, it was a pleasure to work with Dan Carr and Associates and I would recommend them to anyone!

He has an in depth understanding and sense of what will be attractive and stand the test of time. We completed our two year long project without one uncomfortable incident. Now after living in the finished product for the past three years, we are still as pleased as the day Dan finished the job.

We are impressed with the quality of design, workmanship and materials used in our new all seasons room, art studio and deck. Our remodeled kitchen and main bath are simply beautiful. The woodworking skills of the carpenters are the best we've seen. All sub-contractors are highly skilled.

In 2005, we chose Carr and Associates to remodel our kitchen. Mr. Carr did a wonderful job, first in designing the layout of the kitchen and then in the installation of the cabinets. We chose a light hickory finish and they still look beautiful today. The craftsmanship is excellent and the integrity of the cabinets is strong to this day. We love the wooden turntables and wooden pull out drawers. Mr. Carr was very helpful with ideas for planning our new kitchen and the little extras that we never thought of, but have enjoyed so much. I would highly recommend him for any job, small or large.
